The Underground

I love watching plays. Any play will do, so long as they are engaging or entertaining. I'd like to frequent to more plays but since I study in Notroh Woods, its too far for me just to travel down to KL for the plays.

I just got back from a play directed by Nakedwriter and a girl I knew back when I was helping out in The Breakfast Club. The play was very interesting, different, fresh and unique. The aim of the play was to disturb comfort zones and confront stereotypes about theater, life and people which they did, splendidly.

The play consists of several skits but revolve around the theme of theater, life and people. My favourite was Two, Two. One solo act and three pairs (hetero relationship, guy-guy relationship and girl-girl relationship) acts.

The solo act was powerful in the sense that it displays how life's a stage and how people always wear a mask of a sort. A line from the act that's etched in my brain right now is, "My next act is up and so is yours". That's kinda scary and in-your-face truth of life.

The three pairs acts were brilliant too. I think Nakedwriter really captured the emotions that were involved when two people commit themselves in a relationship but the relationship starts to fall apart. It did remind me of the break off that I had with McDave but from a different perspective. An outsider's view of the situation.

You and your crew did a wonderful job, Nakedwriter. Bravo.

Random Photo

Am seriously looking for materials to blog other than food posts. I have two food posts lined up but I don't wanna upload them yet. I'm resisting the Jason Jr effect. Must resist food post temptation!

I live in an apartment and I really like this place. Near to the city but you don't feel the business of the city, convenience of the LRT and I just like apartments/condos. Its on the first floor too so that's wonderful.

I was walking back from the station on a sunny evening. Everything was wonderful. The evening was sunny but oddly enough, I didn't sweat from all the walking. Kids were playing around, running here and there. Calm evening with birds chirping pleasant songs.

And I looked up to my balcony and I saw a familiar shape and colour but I wasn't sure what it was. Walked a little closer and then I saw more familiar shapes and colours. They were Moo Moo and Sharkie! Then I saw the rest, Teddy, Rat rat and Pink Lion! They were being sunned!

Brady bunch under the sun?

I was laughing my head off seeing them getting sunned. Heheheh. They look so adorable! Just look at Rat rat. It was as though he was really enjoying his sunbathing session. Hehehe.

Ahh... Gotta love em stuffed toys.

PSP-Ness

I am super hyped up to get my very own PSP! I can't wait. The more I look at it, the more I want it. The other day, I nearly snatched one from a four year old rich brat... Kids shouldn't get PSP! PSPs are for ADULTS!

I found a really neat video clip of a PSP functionality. Very nice.

Arrrgh. I must have the PSP... My fingers are itching to play it.

Recap of Delicious

I thought my Terengganu trip would be filled with blog-able activities and I would be able to post them but it turned out, there wasn't anything that's remotely exciting. I played PS2 most of the time though.

So I shall do another food post. Seriously, Jason Jr is such a bad influence... Wanna change your blog into a flog, go see him.

This time, I shall recap on the desserts that I have had in Delicious. I just love having meals in this place so much! Since the food there is rather expensive, though really worth every penny, I have decided to have just desserts until I've tried all of them. The dessert itself is enough of a portion for me.

First off, Classic Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. If chocolate is your comfort food, this is the dessert to order to sooth away all your heart aches and sorrows. The whole thing is nothing but moist chocolate and coated with a thick layer of chocolate. Double chocolate-ness.

Classic Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Next, Chocolate Brownie with Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream. Ever thought of the perfect death? Like how you wish to die when you're gonna die? I think this should one of it. Death by chocolate (coincidentally, there's a drink in Delicious with this name), the cause of death in your postmortem report.

The brownie itself is densely packed with nothing but chocolate and lots of walnuts. I like to imagine the brownie as a kilo of chocolate power all compacted into a medium sized and dense brownie. And that's not all, they serve the brownie with a generous (and I do mean generous, almost like a tsunami of chocolate hit the brownie).

There should be a new scientific term for this phenomenon, center of chocolate like center of gravity. The denseness of the chocolate on a single plate should cause a tear in the time and space continuum.

Chocolate Brownie with Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream.

The latest dessert that I've tried is Blackberry Apple Crumble. At first glance, it looked like a huge-ass muffin but don't let the appears fool yea. It packs a whole lot of delicious punch! The muffin top look-alike is divine. Tastes like good old rich English butter biscuits. Oddly enough, the oat flakes in the dough does not taste like paper at all. It is every bit yummy.

The muffin top is quite thick so there's lots of digging to do before I get into the apple part. I didn't mind that cause it's just so delicious. The apple part is full of lovely flavours. Apple, cinnamon and the sourness of the blackberry. Yummy! Its not as sinful as its chocolate counterparts but sure is a gastronomic experience for a dessert.

Blackberry Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Expect more Delicious desserts to come. I still have many more to try.

Stay tune.

Bumming

Woot woot. Finally I got to spend a whole day at home today. Did totally nothing. Heheh. How I miss not doing anything but laze and bum around the house. Gotta love semester breaks!

So here I am, enjoying the stable and fast broadband connection. Streaming online radio using ITunes, downloading my GT downloads (very fast download too!), watched anime and continue reading my book.

Yes I do read fellow bloggers... I can't believe some of you even doubt that. Shame on you. Blind Willow Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami. Very good read though it seems like a compilation of short stories of a sort and they are the most random stories ever! I can't tell what each story is trying to say but I really love reading it.

Seeing that I'm downloading quite a few GT downloads, I'm too lazy to wait for my animes to download using Torrent. So I turn to VEOH. Video streaming at its best! Stable connection, good quality for streaming and all the videos I want to watch are there! I love this site.

I'm off to Terengganu tomorrow for two days. Mom has some stuff to handle there so I'm tagging along. Shall go eat more seafood! Heheheh. Stuffed crab anyone?

So I'll be missing in action tomorrow but will back-post about the short trip.

Good Happiness

This blog is seriously turning into a food blog... Then I'll be known as a FLOGGER! Such kinky title for an innocent and pure blogger like me. Hahahha. I wish that was true but yea. I don't mind doing part-time flogging (in every sense of the word).

So today's food joint, Good Happiness in Low Yat Plaza. Been there several times last year but I guess I wasn't that into food posts and all. Nothing fancy about this place though.

Cute menu cover.

So Jason Jr and I went to try this place out after PSP survey, which I shall blog later about it. We heard the Pumpkin Fried Rice was nice so why not try it out.

There's something about Chinese food joints that makes me order "Ying Yong" (coffee and tea) constantly. Maybe I'm just addicted to it I guess. Though, Kim Gary's serve better "Ying Yong".

Ribena and "Ying Yong".

Jason Jr ordered the Golden Fried Rice while I decided to try the Pumpkin Fried Rice. The service was alright and we didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive.

It was, well its fried rice, I can't say much about it. I was hoping that my rice would be bursting with pumkin flavour but it seems that all they did was dug a hole in the pumkin and put in plain-ish fried rice. Rather soggy and wet too. So I wasn't happy about that. The fried rice reminded me of campus food and that's NOT a good sign.

Golden fried rice.

Pumpkin fried rice.

One thing nice that came with Jason Jr's rice was the sambal. It's deliciously spicy-ish, crunchy and salty-ish. Very nice. Reminds me of the sambal that they use to eat with curry noodle back in Melaka.

I think their other rice dishes are better. Their nissin noodles are nice too if I recall correctly.

Contacts.

I've decided to come up with some sort of rating system for my food posts. I think I should. So here are the catagories and each catagory is rated from 0 (really bad) to 10 (excellent).

Food: 3

Not really happy with the food that I ordered... Too plain, soggy and bla.

Price: 7

The pricing for this place is actually alright. Rather reasonable if you order the right stuff.

Service: 3

Nothing to rave about here either. Very robotic, no smile and not much interaction. Puts the menu, zooms off, come back, take down order and zooms off again.

Ambience: 3

It interior design is rather spartan with the exception of nice lights hanging down the ceiling. I just don't feel what this place is trying to pull off.

Cute Waiters: 0

None to speak of what so ever...

Total Score: 4/10

I wouldn't really recommend this place. If you want something like this, Kim Gary is better.

Five Down, Off I Go

Yey. Finally I'm done with my finals! Time to party! Well not just yet, I gotta pack my stuff to bring back mainly computer, clothes and stuffed toys. Mom should arrive anytime now.

A few days back I had a nightmare during one of my afternoon naps after exam. It was totally weird... Suddenly Janvier was my brother and we were arguing about some family matter. Our family even own the communication cables that straight to Australia and the hub was in the basement of our mansion.

All the yelling and screaming over the phone and all.

When I woke up, I was like, "What the f*ck was he doing in my dream! Why was he my brother to begin with...".

Bizarre bizarre.

Anyhow, I'm packing now to go back home! Finally. Woot woot. Civilization and two months break, here I come!

Oh and check this out.

cash advance

How cute.

Does this mean I write like a high school boy?

Should I be insulted...

Yet Another Food Post

Calvin was right when he said my blog is turning into a food blog cause I have another food post to write about. Previously, it was the aunty from Pink Shop that invited us for a dinner gathering but last night was dinner with the Pink Shop owner. He took us out for seafood!

This place is called 龙城 (long cheng means imperial/dragon city). Fancy name for a restaurant but the food is as grand as the name. This little place is located at Tanjung Tualang and apparently quite famous. Customers, all the way from Singapore flock to this place.

Long Cheng Restaurant.

Even on a weekday, this place was jammed packed with people. Mind you, this place is very isolated, even more isolated than my campus.

Torrents of families come here.

First dish, fish head curry. Not your Indian curry but Chinese curry. Very distinct in the taste. This is one of the best fish head curry ever! Its something with the spices that they use and just the right amount of coconut milk that makes this curry so lovely yet not too rich. The fish was so tender and fresh. The flesh just fell off the bones!

Fish head curry.

Next came the vegetable. They call it Yau Mak but I have no idea what's it called in English plus I've never seen this vegetable before until today. Or maybe I have but never took notice of it. I can't comment much on it except it's delicious. I have no idea how they cooked it either. It just tasted lovely.

Yau Mak.

Ever had soft shell crab California rolls or just soft shell crab from Sushi King? I love those especially the crunchy bits of the crabs. But after eating the soft shell crab from this place, I felt cheated by Sushi King. Sushi King's soft shell crab SUCKS! This one was huge and extra crispy throughout! Comes with a lovely sweet and sour sauce. Every crunch was a satisfying one.

Fried soft shell crabs.

Then came a chicken dish. I'm really bad with names let alone Chinese names, so I don't know what this chicken is called in Chinese. I do know what's it called in English though, Emporer's Chicken. Steamed chicken with assorted herbs and rice wine. DELICIOUS! I like the texture of the meat because it is not those commercially bred type of chicken, they're locally bred.

Emporer's Chicken.

The highlight of the meal for me, fresh water prawns. They were huge ass prawns (bigger than my thumb and toe come to think of it), almost the size of half a baby lobster and costed about five bucks EACH! Cooked in a lovely sweet sauce that's just divine with every lick. I practically licked every shell clean before tossing them aside. This is the true finger licking good experience.

Fresh water prawns (cooked).

Typical Chinese restaurant to have a mini zoo or a mini aquarium at the entrance of the restaurant for customers to choose from.

Fresh water prawns (alive).

Before calling it a night, we went off to a coffee shop in another town for white coffee. This guy really knows where to find the best stuff in town or in this case, towns. This white coffee puts OldTown White Coffee's white coffee (and possibly Starbucks and Coffee Beans' coffee) to shame.

This white coffee was the bomb and we were told this wasn't even the "special" one. I wonder what the "special" white coffee tastes like. It costs six bucks so it better be good.

Delicious white coffee.

As the Chinese saying goes, "we live to eat". I love my food.

Four Down, One To Go

It's so close I can smell it! Holiday here I come, holiday! Just finished my fourth paper and one more to go. I can't wait. Oh so tired. Think I should nap for a moment.

But before that, I've been checking out new games for the PSP. Yes, I'm highly obsessed with the PSP now. Games that came out for this year are awesome. One title is fast becoming my favourite. Syphon Filter series.

Last year they came out with Syphon Filter - Dark Mirror and this year, the sequal Syphon Filter - Logan's Shadow. Since I haven't played any of the games yet, I can't really say what is the story is about, though the review and video clips are awesome!

It is games like these that makes the gaming industry a multi million industry. Makes me wonder what made me stop playing games to begin with...

On a completely different note, sincere congratulations to Nuffnang founders Cheo Ming Shen and Timothy Tiah for being shortlisted in BusinessWeek's Top 25 Young Entrepreneurs in Asia.

Long live Nuffnang!

Craving For A New Toy

It seems that my gaming cycle has taken the form of my reading cycle. One moment I can't seem to put down the book I'm reading, the next moment I can't seem to pick up a book. The period of these cycles are several months apart.

Few months back, I totally stopped gaming after a few years of being an avid gamer. Now it seems, I have the urge to play console games, PSP (Play Station Protable) games to be specific. To play it, I need a PSP!

It was the same food crawl with Jason Jr that the PSP caught my attention (a pink PSP caught my attention to be specific). I grew curious about it and started googling and bombarded my friend who owns one. I want a PSP!

White PSP.

I love the huge screen it has and its uber light! Only 180 grams. I remember those days that I used to own a Gameboy. That thing weights a brick and can potentially kill a dog. I like the feel of the PSP too. Slim, smooth, sturdy and light.

Pink PSP.

With the new PSP Slim and Light, it comes with many colours too including my favourite colours pink and purple. Though I wouldn't get those, I like my console to look cool and black is the way to go or unless someone intentionally get me a pink PSP, I have no qualms about it. I'll add on some bling bling and pink feather boas too.

Besides looking slick, the PSP has great games to back it up. I was browsing the 2006 E3 games of the year for PSP and I am ecstatic about playing them! Games like Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops and Daxter are just some of the games of 2006 I wanna get my hands on when I get my PSP. I wonder what games they have this year.

Check out the videos of the games.

PSP sure is something. It plays games, MP3s and movies. Just what I want, a portable entertainment media center. Its got WIFI to engage in multiplayer and surfing the net plus connectivity to TV! Neat eh?

I gotta get my hands on PSP!

Nga Choi Kai

I am ashame to say that for all the years that I've studied here, I've not eaten the famous Ipoh Nga Choi Kai (literal translation bean sprout chicken). I've been dying to try it out but there never seem to be an opportunity to until yesterday.

Ipoh Nga Choi Kai lived up to its reputation for Ipoh signature dish. It is so famous that the place is always packed with people from all over Malaysia and even Singaporeans too. This place is one of the two shops that sell nga choi kai in the area. Another shop which is located nearby is also packed with people.

The famous shop for nga choi kai.

Just look at the crowd!

See the sign saying the most famous in IPOH.

Who would have thought that a simple mixture of sesame oil and soy sauce would make a simple dish of boiled chicken and poached bean sprout into such delicious dish. I love the chicken cause its so juicy and tender. The bean sprout is poached just nice as to not overcook it and gives a satisfying crunch.

Here's the steamed chicken.

Here's the bean sprout.

I love the ho fun that they used, smooth and soft. The soup was similar to the one that I had during lunch. The combination of the three was so yummy. So nice that I kinda polished the plates clean of their contents. Hehehe.

Hor fun served in soup.

Ipoh nga choi kai, a must try when visiting Ipoh.

Food Crawl

What do I do when the Ipoh boy is in town for a weekend trip? I force him into submission and rape him of course! Who can resist the ever-so-nice-smelling-and-adorable-looking Jason Jr? Heheh. Just kidding. We do what food lovers do, food crawl around Ipoh!

Ever since William posted on how huge and heavy Cockman's eggtarts were (the name of the street is so wrong), I had to try it myself. Jason Jr was kind enough to buy them for me before they get sold out. They were really heavy and huge but more importantly delicious even though it was cold by the time I ate them. I'll have to have a second round of tasting while the eggtarts are hot.

The famous Cockman tarts.

First stop of our food crawl was a coffee shop for brunch that is famous for their popiah and pork satay. That's what was claim but I find their kai si hor fun was more delicious compared to the two. The soup made it unique.

First stop of the food crawl.

Kai si hor fun.

The popiah was so-so. Had better popiah like the ones I had in Wooley. Nothing to rave about.

Popiah.

The pork satay was so-so too. It wasn't crispy enough and oddly, it didn't taste porky enough. It tasted like chicken. The peanut saucy wasn't thick and nutty as I like it. At least I've tasted pork satay right?

Pork satay.

We skipped lunch and had ice cream for tea at a place called Crazy Ice Cream. This place used to be famous for their pretty looking waitress. Pity I'm not into girls. I wonder why they didn't hire pretty boys too? Haven't they heard about diversity?

The ice cream was ok. Nothing to rave about here either. What I enjoyed most is the company. Its always the company that makes an outing a good one.

Banana split anyone?

Triple scoop sundae.

Our food crawl didn't just end here. Dinner will be posted in the next post. This is what makes Ipoh famous.

Any guesses?

Polish Your Balls, We're Going Bowling

When there's no movie to watch and nothing to do in Ipoh, we go BOWLING! Its so pathetic that Ipoh is not showing Stardust... Don't people here know a good movie when they see one?!

Anyhow, bowling was super fun. It has been few years since I last bowled and it was hilarious when all the balls started to roll into the drain. Constantly rolling into the drain. But it was good fun.

It got really hilarious when Twin Faghag accidentally tossed the bowling ball backwards causing a ruckus amongst us and the people we shared the console with. Then we started making jokes about insurance and head injuries.

Random bowling alley shot.

My score totally sucked. First game was 87 and it went downhill with the second game with the score of 79. Totally sucked man...

After two rounds, my right arm started to sore. Had to cycle between ball 10 and 9.

Game I.

Game II.

Random shot of me.

There was a guy bowling the next lane who has super nice hair! His hair was so straight yet so soft, so bouncy and so lively! He's got long hair that covers the side of his face. Pity we couldn't get a clear photo of him. Makes me wanna stroke his hair! The rest of him was bla though.

Inspector Gadget

Another meme to fill up my blog post. Seeing that I have my first exam paper tomorrow, I've been locking myself in my room studying/chatting/surfing/GT-ing. Hence, the lack of interesting happenings.

Meme time!

What's the latest gadget you bought?
Sony Ericsson k800i. Which was early of this year... That's sad. I want more gadget!

What's the first gadget you own?
My computer. I want to upgrade my computer... I want a widescreen for my little baby.

What's the most expensive gadget you own?
My computer.

What's the gadget you want to buy next?
I haven't decided yet.

Do you follow the updates of the latest gadgets in the market?
Not anymore. Don't know why. Guess my gadget list got superseded by fashion and kinky underwear.

What brand do you trust for handphone, camera, computer?
Handphone: Sony Ericsson
Camera: Olympus
Computer: My own specifications

Serious Error

Here is a serious case of bad advertising of a snack that I found today in my campus grocery store. What were the Creative Department thinking coming up with such product name?

I bring you Kolon, the tastiest chocolate snack ever created. Kolon in Malay means colon. Oh my, chocolate colon?! Yummy! I got a nice tagline to go with it too. Buy colon for instant delicious diarrhea.

This is so wrong...

More Dead Stuff

This is getting weird. Just the other day I blogged about two dead things in my Days of The Dead post. and a few days back I spotted another one. Are things in my campus dying left and right? Zombie manifestation perhaps?

This time, its a dead frog. Sorry Froggie, may you rest in peace. It was bizzare. I was walking down the stairs and there laid a dead frog with its hind legs extended. Weird position to die for a frog.

Dead froggie.

There wasn't any blood nor was there any deformity on its body. Not like someone smacked it. Its just lying dead...

A Feast To Remember

For the first time in my life, I ate in Overseas Restaurant. I've heard so much about the food there but never ate there before. Partly because its so freaking expensive to even order a dish. Its not Chinese fine dining but the food was awesome!

A bunch of us was invited by our club advisor to his second son's full moon celebration. It was almost like a wedding dinner. His first son's full moon was held in Indulgence. Imagine that, such lavish celebration.

Its has been ages since I had red hard boiled egg. A Chinese custom for birthday celebrations to have these eggs. There're just normal eggs with red dye on them. Guess these eggs brought back old memories of birthday celebrations.

Red hard boiled egg with pickled ginger.

I was shocked when the first dish came our was 'Yee Sang'. I thought they only served this for weddings and Chinese New Years. I can honestly say, this place serves the best 'Yee Shang' I've ever eaten. No one flavour in this dish was overwhelming. It was all just nice, perfect blend. I could taste every single ingredient that they put in the dish.

Yee Sang.

The granduer of this dinner dawned on me when the next dish came. Shark fin soup! Not those cheap shark fin soup. This is the real deal! Generous amounts of shark fin, scallops, herbs and other ingredients. I still can't believe all this is to celebrate a one month year old kid!

Yummy yummy shark fin soup.

By all accounts, the next dish is a simple one. Crispy roast chicken. Normal stuff nothing fancy. The things that set this roast chicken apart are the plum sauce and extra crispy skin. The satisfying crunch of the skin and the sweet and sour flavour of the plum sauce. Yummy.

I honestly never seen restaurants that served just boiled prawns with no sauce or anything on it. Just plain old boiled prawns. Though nothing about these prawns are ordinary. I don't know what prawns were these but they are the best prawns ever! So juicy, full of flavour, fresh and deliciously chewy.

Yummy chewy prawns.

I love my mushroom a lot. Any edible fungus, I love! So naturally when I saw the next dish, I was ecstatic. Mushroom cooked with gingo, dried oysters, Chinese cabbage and chicken feet. The combination is just heavently. The mushrooms and dried oysters were huge! They were of top notch quality ingredients.

Delicious mushrooms.

This place continues to amazed me with the food they serve. Fried noodle that they served look just like any other fried noodle. I wasn't keen to try it at first since I was stuffed with all those yummy dishes. I had one bite instead and it was anything but common fried noodle. Its was amazing! Handmade noodles are the best!

Then came dessert. Seaweed cooked with six different sort of beans. I absolutely love it. Again, like the Yee Sang, I could taste every single beans. Perfect blend of flavours. Even though I was stuffed, I kept helping myself with more.

Lovely six beans with seaweed dessert.

The night didn't end just yet. After dinner, my club advisor brought us to drink Snow Beer. It is beer that has been cooled under subzero condition. I like! Some beer and bunch of friends. Perfect ending for the night.

Super chilled beer.
